Our Story
A Legacy of Compassion Since 2005
Syed Barri Foundation (SBF) was founded in 2005 in response to the devastating earthquake that struck northern Pakistan on October 8, 2005. Measuring 7.6 on the moment magnitude scale, the earthquake was one of the deadliest natural disasters in the country's history, claiming more than 86,000 lives, injuring over 75,000 people, and leaving approximately 3.5 million people homeless. Entire villages, schools, hospitals, and vital infrastructure were destroyed, creating an urgent humanitarian crisis.
Witnessing the immense suffering and the urgent need for relief inspired the creation of Syed Barri Foundation. What began as a mission to help families affected by the disaster has grown into a lasting commitment to serving vulnerable communities throughout Pakistan.
Today, SBF continues that mission by providing free meals to families facing food insecurity, syllabus books to underprivileged students so they can pursue their education, and free monthly medical camps that bring essential healthcare services to underserved communities.
Nearly two decades later, the values that inspired our founding remain unchanged. We are committed to serving humanity with compassion, restoring dignity through meaningful action, and creating opportunities that empower individuals and strengthen communities across Pakistan.
